Carmen has received her designation of Certified Nutritional Practitioner from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition, graduating with First Class Honours. Carmen is a Clinical Herbalist upon completing a 5-year comprehensive biomedical program with Dominion Herbal College. As well, Carmen has training in Contemplative Psychotherapy, has completed certification courses in Endocrinology and Clinical Detoxification, and is currently studying Functional Medicine... and Portuguese! Carmen is Faculty at the Institute of Traditional Medicine, guiding students in Clinic Skills, Materia Medica and Therapeutics; and is Faculty at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition where she teaches Comparative Diets. She is also Medicinal Herb Consultant at Richter’s Herbs, a Raw Food Chef, and is a Professional Member and Registered Herbalist at the Ontario Herbalist Association.
Carmen has a private practice in Toronto where she guides her clients in detoxification, balancing hormones, longevity and healing the gut-brain connection, using plant medicine and plant-based nutrition. She incorporates functional testing to determine the root cause rather than merely treat the symptoms.
Carmen delivers compelling corporate talks including Lunch & Learns, conferences, seminars & workshops. Carmen applies her biomedical understanding of the body, her experience with plants as medicine and her own spiritual grounding to share with individuals who are ready to be proactive with their health, achieve optimal results and make lasting change. Carmen lives her life by incorporating the motto: Be the change you wish to see in the world.
